Hunter Interviews Fiatauroratale Finitus
In a dark room, lit by flashes of lightning from the thunderbird, with occasional fireflies flying through the walls, Fiatauroratale Finitus sits down with Hunter, the Third Lord of the Admiralty
Hunter: Thank you for being with us today, Finitus. Thank you also to all our guests who have come to see this moment. Let us start. Finitus, you said that you, and Wind's Door generally, will not tolerate Thorcernder, not for a moment, even if he ceded the Oceanic Mountains.
Finitus: Yes, I believe I said that.
Hunter: Do you still stand by that statement?
Finitus: Yes, of course. What did you think I would do? What's the point of making a statement in the first place, if you are not going to back it?
Hunter: Well, some would call that stance extreme.
Finitus: But you don't, Hunter, do you?
Hunter: Well... You see... Anyway. That is the topic of another interview. Could you explain your stance to our audience today?
Finitus: I prefer not to be attacked on a weekly basis by some weather-altering dragon. You may disagree with me, and you may find a constant threat of fire and death to be entertaining, but I thoroughly disagree with your disagreement. Furthermore, I thoroughly agree with myself, which is in complete antagonism to your disagreement.
Hunter: Could you explain that previous sentence again for our listeners? It is a little difficult to follow.
Finitus: Simple. If you disagree with me, I will disagree back to the fullest extent of Justice.
Hunter: Thank you, Finitus. Now, moving on. You have been known for the phrase, Fīat iūstitia ruat cælum. Could you elaborate on it?
Finitus: Yes, of course. It means "let justice be done, though the heavens fall." I mean it. I intend justice to be done, even if the heavens do indeed fall. Of course, I sometimes help the heavens fall and promote justice.
Hunter: By justice, do you mean fairness?
Finitus: Oh no, no, no. I do not mean that. Quite the contrary. If fairness is unjust, then away with fairness.
Hunter: What's the difference?
Finitus: Fairness is equality, Justice is morality, you can say.
Hunter: So, you support the Ecoconservatives?
Finitus: If you mean Bear, yes. Of course.
Hunter: Wind's Door has been very nationalistic of late, and very interventionist. Is there a reason for this?
Finitus: Yes. There is a reason. I am that reason.
Hunter: Don't you think that that is a little dangerous?
Finitus: That's the point.
Hunter: What do you think about sheepdog and his polyarchists, by the way?
Finitus: Useful.
Hunter: It has been said that you are the warden of the Order of the Storm. When did this occur?
Finitus: I invented it.
Hunter: The Order of the Storm?
Finitus: It.
Hunter: Oh, that. About your pro bear stance. Do you have Wind's Door's Backing?
Finitus: Yes. Not that it matters. By the way, you said that bear was coming. Where is he? Is that him?
Hunter: Yes, it is.
They take a break.
I know Fiatauroratale Finitus very well. He never would say such things. Or he would, come to think of it.
ReplyDeleteThe Crown is your name, and maybe you deserve that title. But still, I believe your analysis is flawed, and must be rejected altogether.
DeleteCalm down, tiger.
DeleteLion! Don't reveal my identity!
DeleteWell... sorry about that. For everyone listening, I was NOT insinuating that the Mantle was Tiger. I was using an analogy. Just like I never said that I was the crown, or that Hunter was the Hat, or Sheepdog the Umbrella, or Bulldog the Briefcase.
DeleteTrue enough.
DeleteI do not get it
DeleteYou are not intended to.
DeleteI am very appreciative
ReplyDeleteThank you.
