Archin Canyon part 4: The East
Let us begin a brief overview of the east. It is mainly plain grassland, with little antelopes leaping around, and the occasional wolf or flightless dragon chasing after them, but in the middle of this affair, a little city grew somewhere in the middle. Apparently, this little city was founded by a few Archin settlers who wanted a new place to live. This little, unimportant city happened to have a couple of owls, and some authors. When the great Haha land calamity happened, all the Owls travelled North to Archin Canyon and Wind's Door. Many landed in Eastern Archin Canyon. Since they mostly flew together, they all landed within close vicinity of each other, and just happened to be close to the settlement. They settled in the settlement, bringing their books and parchments. The Owls had brought more than half of Haha land's books, and as a result, as owls continued to come, the little village had to be expanded into a little city, mostly of owls. It kept many books in basements and things.
As the owls kept coming, and there was no stop to them, and since books kept coming, finally they built a small library to accommodate some books.
Since this settlement was the only settlement in the east, and since the constant influx of owls made it larger by the minute, the city became the main stop when one wanted to go from the northeast to the south. Soon, people from the north and south started moving there, because it provided a trading opportunity.
Though trading did help with the population of the city, it was the Library that truly made the city what it is today. With all those books, and the library constantly growing, scholars started going to the library, researching the famous books that were lost in the Calamity. The city grew larger.
Suddenly, a war broke out between the different regions of the Canyon.
The Library served partly as a fortress and partly as a refuge. It preserved many things from destruction. It alone stood among the fierce battles between the regions.
Finally, when the Empire was Reunited, Thomas the Quiet greatly improved the Library, furnishing it with magnificent architecture and wealth. This helped it grow to what it is today.
As for the rest of the Library City, there are many histories concerning it. There is Johannes's Bell Tower, atop which William the Blacksmith drove away a horde of Narki bat-riders with nothing but a hammer and anvil. There is the Museum where all the artifacts saved in the wars are stored. There are markets and restaurants where Kings and Emperors shopped and dined. But the Library towers above them all.
