Notes on the Archin Clans

Image
It is said among inhabitants of Northern Archin Canyon that there are only two sorts of Northern Archins. There are the Northern Archins of the White Banner and the Northern Archins of the Blue Banner, abbreviated henceforth as White and Blue archins. White archins, they say, are the sort that love to live in big fancy white castles with weapons, and who charge into battle in shining armor on a sunny day. Blue Archins, in contrast, are the sort that love to live in big fancy blue castles with weapons, and who charge into battle in shining armor on a rainy day. Other than these things, the main difference between these two sorts is the fact that White archins have a preoccupation with flying things, like griffins, dragons, eagles, and birds, while Blue Archins have a preoccupation with swimming things, like dolphins, whales, and fish. Of course, we know that it isn’t true that these are the only Northern Archins. Such generalizations ignore the existence of grey archins. Such Archi...

Archin Canyon part 4: The East

Let us begin a brief overview of the east. It is mainly plain grassland, with little antelopes leaping around, and the occasional wolf or flightless dragon chasing after them, but in the middle of this affair, a little city grew somewhere in the middle. Apparently, this little city was founded by a few Archin settlers who wanted a new place to live. This little, unimportant city happened to have a couple of owls, and some authors. When the great Haha land calamity happened, all the Owls travelled North to Archin Canyon and Wind's Door. Many landed in Eastern Archin Canyon. Since they mostly flew together, they all landed within close vicinity of each other, and just happened to be close to the settlement. They settled in the settlement, bringing their books and parchments. The Owls had brought more than half of Haha land's books, and as a result, as owls continued to come, the little village had to be expanded into a little city, mostly of owls. It kept many books in basements...

The Lunchtime Eagle

The Lunchtime Eagle By the Umbrella It’s a familiar scene, isn’t it. You are a grand and noble soldier, or a knight of old, with sword and shield in hand and with the fierce allure of battle upon you (or, to be more precise, on top of you), enriched with the history of a thousand and two years, charging atop your mostly loyal steed, about to deal the furious blow that will change your as of now bleak fortunes, and spire you into the glorious prospect of gaining praise and honor for your hard-mustered valour. You spot your sworn enemy, atop his horse, and are just about to bring down your blade and cleave off clean his head, your eyes flashing, your heart beating, your mind swirling with such giddyish ideas of defeating your enemy once and for all, when suddenly… “Lunch time!” And…all hope is lost. And all glorious thoughts are rudely escorted out of the premises of your poor mind. And now, you have to stop what you’re doing, sullenly get off your steed, and tell your until-now swo...

Archin Canyon part 3: The Northern Geography

The North, a fascinating part of the overall canyon, is the part that most call to mind when they think of Archin Canyon. It is mostly mountains and tundra, with a number of dangerous creatures and climates. The first feature we will discuss is the Northern Barrier. This huge mountain range to the North separates Archin Canyon from the Sea between the canyon and Narki Mountain. There are many differing theories as to the origin of this mountain range. The two mainstream ones are either that it was created by great ancient engineers of the past, or that it was naturally formed, and utilized for various purposes. Its main use today is to keep enemies out of the North. Some have noted that Narki still frequent the North, and they conclude that the Barrier is useless. Let me explain why they are wrong. Most Narki cannot travel by day. The Mountain Barrier Range takes a day to reach the top. If the Narki start traveling up the mountains at sunset, by midnight, they will be halfway up. ...

Archin Canyon part 2: Expert analysis

By Tiger, the Second Lord of the Admiralty. Let us begin with what you can call a SWOT analysis: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. First, strengths. Archin Canyon is very well known for its resilience, its hardiness, and its fighting ability. They have one of the largest militaries in the world. They are also known for their independence. As for weaknesses, they are rather divided, with each region vying for itself, and a possible Northern or Western Cession, with the East and South trying to reel them back in. I also note that the south is practically defenseless. They are completely against military, weapons, and more. Of course, I believe that the patriotism of the North compensates, but the South is right next to the Bridge, which may be one of the most important strategic locations geopolitically. I will also point out another main weakness: they are easily offended and reactive and may order a ground invasion of a close ally that forgot to condemn their enem...

Archin Canyon part 1: Introduction.

Archin Canyon Archin Canyon is a fascinating country. From mountains and snows in the North to sand and cities in the south, practically everything one could possibly want is in there. On another note, everything one could possibly not want is there too. Dragons, griffins, Narki, trolls, hunger, thirst, death of heat and cold, fire, ice, sickness, thorns, precipices, and death, all at a hundredth of the usual prices. It is said that though the birth rate more than decuples other countries, so does the death rate. Funerals are a once-a-week occurrence, and so are births. One could note that Archin Canyon has very strong families, so that they have as many divorces in a century as we have in an hour. Let us attempt to lay out an outline of this fascinating country. We will analyze its geography, history, politics, people, fauna, flora, and more. Today, though, let us start with an overview. Archin Canyon is a large country, almost a subcontinent. The North nearly touches the Norther...
